Part of the sport of gladiatorial combat was that certain parts of each gladiator were left exposed as targets (often the chest and stomach), while others were protected.
The gladiator pauldron fits perfectly with that requirement, as it offers excellent protection for one shoulder while leaving the minifigure's torso exposed.

Being smaller than many of the armour pieces adds to this piece's versatility. Pairing it with different helmets/armour/weapons allows customisation along a number of different themes.
Fits either right or left. Minifig head does not secure it in place though.
A perfect addition to my pit fighter character, and is easily one of the coolest armors I've seen. Great for gladiator or postapoc characters alike, but versatile enough for even more uses. :)
For those having an issue with the armor moving when the minifigs armor is raised, some helmets and neck pieces will help hold the armor down so it won't move.
Cool design, nice on a barbarian! It miss some way to clip it on the torso, it just lays on the shoulder and will lift if you rotate too much the arms or if you put the minifigure upside down.
At first I thought this was pricey, but I broke down and bought one, and now I'm glad. The design is very distinctive, and works well with fantasy or futuristic military style minis. It gives a stylish look to your butt-kicking heroes. The fact that it's one solid piece earns it higher regard from me than pauldrons I've bought from other sites that come in two pieces and feel flimsy.
This accessory is very cool, hope you get it in brown soon.
I love this armor for arena types. It even goes well with monsters like orcs and goblins. It kind of represents a "rag tag" armor. My only issue with this is issues staying on the mini figs as it tends to shift quite option. Perhaps some kind of loop around the neck would secure it more, but would take away from the overall appearance so I don't have a good solution, I think it's made the best possible way it could be!
Must get for any gladiator minifig.
