LEGO MOC of the Week - Spanish Reconquista 1492 by Hunter Erickson

16th Jun 2016

It's been hard to go more than a few weeks without selecting another Hunter Erickson creation as the MOC of the week, so we're doing it this week. And once again, Hunter takes inspiration from history, this time recreating the end of the Spanish Reconquista, in 1492. The Spanish Reconquista or reconquest was a period of history that took place on the Iberian Peninsula and spanned nearly 800 years. Basically, there was an Islamic conquest in the 710s and it took several centuries for the last Islamic state to fall (the completion of the reconquest) in 1492.

We're not quite sure what exactly is taking in this picture, but we can probably assume it is when the last Islamic state fell.

There are a few BrickWarriors pieces featured in this masterpiece. The monk-like figure on the second floor balcony is wearing a Plague Doctor Coat. The minifigure in the blue turban in the bottom left of this picture is wielding a Dervish Blade. The minifigure with its back to the wall in a steel helmet is wearing a City Watch Helmet
