LEGO MOC of the Week - Jeanne d'Arc is Burned at the Stake by Michael

Posted by Merrie on 19th Oct 2017

Some things never change...mob mentality being one of them! Just is the case in this truly fantastic MOC by Flickr user Michael, who never disappoints with his creations. For those of you who are not Catholic or didn't catch the super informative episode of Wishbone, Joan of Arc is a martyr, nicknamed the "The Maid of Orleans." As a peasant child in medieval France, she heard voices telling her to save her homeland. Somehow she convinced the crown prince to let her lead an army, and actually proved victorious, until things took a predictable turn when she was captured by Anglo-Burgundian forces and was burned at the stake for...you guessed it: witchcraft! They threw a charge of heresy in there too, but let's me honest with ourselves, they mostly just thought she was a witch (unclear at this time if she turned anyone into a newt).

Back to the MOC! The buildings alone are pretty impressive and make for an incredible backdrop. That certainly took a good chunk of time and effort. But we're really loving the palpable action happening at the foreground of this scene. There's a lot of chaos unfolding as soldiers donning Kettle Helms, Sallets, and Archer Helms approach poor Joan with their Boar Spears, City Watch Halberds, and Voulges. Notice the bound kindling? Nice touch, eh? The layered bricks also make for a pretty compelling cobblestone appearance. Bravo, Michael. Can't wait to see what you create next!

WARNING - Choking Hazard, Small Pieces. Not for children under 3.
