The Brick Connection - Playing Dress Up

The Brick Connection A novice Lego fan explores the great brick world of LEGO

Hola mis amigos de LEGO!!

Who wants to play dress up?! That’s what you guys say before playing with your minifigs, right?

Last week we had an in depth discussion about the awesomeness of Lego minifigs. This week we accessorize the minifigs.

I can think of no other way to accessorize Lego minifigures than with custom made BrickWarriors accessories. Okay, I guess there’s the option of using actual Lego accessories... And technically there are a few other companies that produce custom accessories. But come on, if you had the option of using our stuff versus Lego’s very simple, bland, stupidly designed accessories, wouldn’t you pick us? Alright, they’re not “stupidly” designed, but I stand by simple and bland.

We are clearly the best of the best. When you Google “minifigure accessories” or “Lego minifigure accessories,” guess whose website is listed first?

Actually one of our resellers is listed first

….followed by a Lego reseller

….followed by our arch nemesis

….followed by another one of our resellers

….followed by us!! That’s right, we’re number 5!! (Really need to work on that SEO.)

But guess what happens when you Google “CUSTOM minifigure accessories”

We’re number……3! Dammit!

Okay that sucks. And it doesn’t get better if you Google “minifigure weapons” or “minifigure guns.”

But if you Google “minifigure armor”……BINGO! We’re number 1! Mwahaha! Suck it, everyone else!

How about you all commit to a non-verbal, non-written, permanent contract that you will not try to Google those things and that you will make sure you and everyone you know just goes directly to our website when looking to play dress up with your minifigs. By reading that last sentence you have committed yourself to the contract. No take backs!

Enough messing around. Let’s get to the task at hand. Accessorizing!

I grabbed a bunch of undressed minifigures that we have hanging out in the office, turned on a video camera , and got to work dressing these minifigs in style. (The video camera is for the vlog.)

I BrickWarriored them. I BrickWarriorized them.

I turned them into BrickWarriors!

First up, a minifig in a suit. With a sweet outfit like that, I didn’t want to cover it up with armor or anything so instead I complemented it with a fedora. Which of course made him look like a 20’s gangster, so then I had to equip him with some guns. I gave him an adaptive warrior rifle and a snub nose revolver. And to finish it off, I gave him a time bomb. This guy definitely looks like he could cause some mischief.

Next up was a minifig with a hairy chest and an anchor tattoo. I wanted to do something that didn’t match his original look so I dressed him up like a SciFi stud. He’s wearing Resistance Trooper Armor and the matching RT Helmet. I love matching our pearl gold color with the dark red color so I made his weapon the dark red deadly cricket and gave him a super sleek Riot Shield. It’s like he’s a totally different minifig!

The next minifig already looks prepared to take on the zombie apocalypse with lots of chains, knick knacks, and whatever strapped to his body. I decided to take the look to the next level with a bandolier so he’ll have lots of extra ammo. Strapped to the back of his bandolier is the repeater rifle. Kind of a random weapon to have in the apocalypse, but hey, you gotta stock up with anything you can get in an anarchical society. He’s also double fisting guns with an impaler assault rifle and a terrorizer MG. And to top off this badass look is a do rag. You don’t have time to style your hair in the apocalypse.

The next minifig is a minfigalien. Yeah, I just made up that word. You might think I’d give this extra terrestrial creature a bunch of science fiction accessories. But no. Instead, I gave him a medieval look. Call him Sir E.T. Let’s pretend that this alien came to planet earth during medieval times, but he didn’t want anyone to know he wasn’t from this world. So to blend in, he became a city watchman. He’s got the helmet, the armor, the tassets, and the halberd. But just in case anybody tried to give him any trouble, he brought a weapon from his planet, the head hunter pistol, to protect himself.

Next was a weird abominable snowman type guy. I decided to use his ferocious look and turn him into a dragon. He’s wearing demon armor and a demon helmet, with dragon wings and a dragon tail attached. He’s also got a handy dandy dragon sword. It pretty much looks like he can bite your head off and then chop it up into itty bitty pieces.

Our next minifig is a minifiga. It’s a girl minifig. So I grabbed the only female armor we sell (as of now), the Harpy Armor. I also got her a matching green harpy helmet and a pair of bird wings and a barbed tail to really pull the whole thing together. This harpy won’t just serenade you with her pipes though. She’s got a vine whip for any troublemakers and a magic wand because she moonlights as a magician on the weekends.

The next minifig was red, red, and red all over. Your stereotypical demon. But I say he’s not a demon! Just a minifig with an unfortunate complexion. I thought his bad complexion would make him a fierce looking Viking warrior, so I outfitted him in a black Viking helmet and Viking armor. The moose antlers attached to the helmet really adds to the fierceness of it all. And to match his skin tone I gave him a dark red Viking axe and Viking longsword. Or maybe they're not actually dark red and this guy just doesn’t do a good job of cleaning enemy blood off his weapons…

This next minifig looks just like the first minifig with the hairy chest and anchor tattoo, but this guy’s got a terrified look on his face. It looks like the same face as the Emmet minifig from my Lego Movie set. Well I decided to toughen this guy up by enlisting him in the military. Now he’s got a military vest, military helmet, and a couple killer weapons; the suppressed sniper and French assault rifle. He still looks frightened though. Maybe he shouldn’t be carrying loaded guns.

The next guy looks kind of like a hipster. I decided to go completely out of the box for his look. Sometimes hipsters think old fashioned stuff is cool, right? Well I made him into a very old fashioned, ancient Greek warrior. He’s almost god-like. Hipsters do think pretty highly of themselves. He’s got a bladed helm, a skull crusher, and a Trojan shield and he’s wearing muscled cuirass. Hipster’s don’t really work out, so this is the only way he’s gonna get a six pack.

The final minifig is the only other female. She already has a pretty good warrior princess look to her so I decided to make her a Spartan warrior princess. She has beautiful, flowing Spartan cape, a Spartan helmet, Spartan shield, and Spartan sword. But she doesn’t really feel like a warrior until you attach that beautiful purple Spartan plume to the top of her helmet. Ah yes, this girl knows how to work the plume!

So that was my attempt at accessorizing. What do you think? What was your favorite minifig transformation?

If you want to see video of how it all went down, check out the latest episode of Behind the BrickWarriors Mask below.

That's it for this week. Thanks for reading. Please leave comments! I like feedback. I can probably take anything you have to say. Honest! And if not, I'll just hunt you down and slap you in the face.

Until next time, happy accessorizing!
