One Year Anniversary Contest RULES

Celebrating BrickWarriors One Year Annivesary! Runs from Sept 1 to Oct 31.

One Year Anniversary Contest RULES

Postby Thrash » Sat Sep 01, 2012 1:15 pm

One year ago on September 1st, BrickWarriors opened its virtual doors for business. Since then, we’ve really come a long way. Here are a few numbers to show the difference a year can make:

Website:
2011 – We started out with a silly little Bricklink store…
2012 – Now we have a full website, complete with a shopping cart system, forum, and blog.

Products Available:
2011 – We started out with 3 molds for a total of 29 items…
2012 – Now we have molds 12 and 13 in development. Not including Molds 12 and 13, we now have 103 items in production (a few of which you guys haven’t seen yet).

Conventions Attended:
2011 – We started out by selling prototypes at Brickfair 2011 at a rogue vendor table in the Military Section and got kicked out Sunday Morning…
2012 – This year we had 3 real vendor tables at Brickfair VA filled to the brim with production items, figures, T-shirts, and more. We also attended Brickfair AL, BrickMagic, BrickFiesta, and BrickFete.

Workspace:
2011 – We started out with a few drawers filled with products on a desk in the office…
2012 – Now we have 6 shelves filled with products in our office and another room devoted entirely to BrickWarriors storage. Soon we’ll need a warehouse!

It’s crazy how big of a difference one year can make!

To celebrate BrickWarriors 1 year anniversary, your task is to create two MOCs or Minifigs to show the difference one year can make.

Category 1 – Custom Minifig:
Create a custom figure, and then show the same figure one year later. Feel free to include a back-story to explain the changes that your minifig has undergone (although a back-story is not required).

Category 2 – MOC:
Create an MOC showing a scene, and then create another MOC showing that same place one year later. Each scene should be between 8x8 studs (vignette) and 32x32 studs.

Rules:
1. Each figure or MOC must include at least 1 BrickWarriors accessory.
2. Customization of all types is ok…decals, painting, cutting, sculpting…whatever you want!
3. Digital editing only allowed for the background. (Autocorrecting and changing the brightness and contrast is fine…making the figure appear blue instead of green is not)
4. Each person may enter each category twice.
5. Contest runs from September 1, 2012 to October 31, 2012 (midnight EST).
6. All entries should be posted as a new topic in the appropriate category subforum under the One Year Anniversary Contest forum.
7. Entries may be edited up until the contest is closed.
8. Nothing shown in public or online before September 1 2012 may be entered.

Judging:
1. Judging will be done by BrickWarriors staff.
2. There will be a first and second place prize for each category (see prizes below).
3. Judges decisions are final. Any arguments with the judges’ decisions will result in immediate disqualification from the contest.

Prizes:
The winners will win lots of BrickWarriors accessories...including some top secret items! The 1st and 2nd place prizes will be the same for both categories. See pictures below:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.

Good luck everyone and thanks for making the first year of BrickWarriors such a success!

This will be quite fun! I have the perfect figure to use...
Hold on...is that dark blue RT armor I see?! :O
Why bother to read this? It appears at the end of every post I make, so I'm sure it gets boring.

This is a great idea for a contest! :D

But no bigger than 32x32 studs? I guess I'll have to be creative! ;)

That is indeed Dark Blue RT Armor, sponsored by our very own forum member SirCoconut!

Thanks! Can't wait to see your entry. :)

BrickAttack wrote:For the figure category, can you enter mechs?

That's a good question. Let's say that hardsuits are allowed, but bigger mechs should just be put on a baseplate and entered into the MOC category. The custom minifig category is really more about customization techniques (decals, sculpting, modding, purism with a splash of BW, etc.) rather than being about MOCing. How does that sound?

Based on your past work I'd say that building a nice scene under 32x32 studs should be no problem for you! By the way, welcome to the forums!

i'd love to be a part of that! by the way to clarify on the rules, are you supposed to make a scene or minifig then show what changes have happened to them in a year, such as being older or having more buildings?

Sounds good! I guess that means you won't be part of the judging. :)

Fantastic Contest Idea Guys! Quick question, can our custom minifig. be used in our MOC? Or do they have to be two seperate entities?

That's ok that all you have is the bandolier...all you need is one BW piece for the contest!

Can't wait to see it this weekend. :)

Hang on, can we use a gun mod from BEFORE september the first to include in our figure? I mean, it isn't part of the figure in any way...
